The British Sleep Society (BSS) is pleased to announce the launch of its 2025 Research Studentship Programme, offering undergraduate and postgraduate students in the United Kingdom an opportunity to engage in original sleep research.

Programme Highlights:

  • Duration: 8 to 10 weeks during the summer of 2025.
  • Eligibility: Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students across the UK. Applicants are encouraged to undertake projects at academic or clinical institutions within the UK, either within or outside their current institution. Both the student and the host supervisor must be members of the BSS.
  • Project Scope: Research projects must focus on sleep-related topics and can span various disciplines, including medical science, psychology, social sciences, and public health.

Student Bursary:

A stipend of £275 per week is provided to the student for the duration of the project, which can run from 8 to 10 weeks (project length must be clearly justified in the application). This equates to a total bursary of £2,200–£2,750 per student, depending on the project duration.

Host Institution Consumables Budget:

Up to £1,000 is available to the host institution to cover essential research consumables or project-specific expenses. This funding will be reimbursed upon receipt of an invoice, with payments processed bi-annually.
