Scotland Speaks – A National Sleep Study for World Sleep Day

March 14 - April 30

As part of World Sleep Day, Emma Gale at the University of St Andrews is launching Scotland Speaks is in collaboration with the World Sleep Society as an official World Sleep Day delegate event. This national study aims to explore how sleep is perceived and prioritised in Scotland, particularly within public health, workplaces, and education.

Despite growing global recognition of sleep as a public health priority, it remains underrepresented in UK health policy, and sleep is still not recognised as a fundamental pillar of health alongside diet and exercise.

This will help gather insights from people across Scotland and contribute to discussions on the role of sleep in health policy, clinical practice, and public health strategies. The survey is open to anyone aged 18+ living in Scotland, takes just 15-20 minutes, and participants can enter a £50 Amazon gift card draw as a thank-you.
