Dr Nicola Read is currently completing respiratory training in northwest London and is pursuing a career in respiratory and sleep medicine. She graduated from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2012. Dr Read has an interest in medical leadership and improving patient care at a system level. This led her to complete a project exploring motivations within healthcare professionals to undertake medical leadership training opportunities as part of her master’s in medical education, awarded by Cardiff University in 2019. Dr Read completed the National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellowship in 2018, during which she delivered programme redesign. More recently she undertook a Health Education England Transformation Fellowship role in 2021, where she contributed to large-scale service improvement work, and is currently sitting on the British Thoracic Society Workforce and Service Improvement committee.
